Suggested Changes
[edit]Hello, I noticed that there was outdated information on the Kenjgewin Teg article and reached out to them to make edits. I understand they are having problems doing so, so I am attempting to do so myself.
- The name of the institute was shorten last year to 'Kenjgewin Teg' not 'Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute' (Indigenous Institutes | ontario.ca)
- The logo is also out of date (Indigenous Institutes | ontario.ca)
- There are 8 member communities, but the programs are not only available to those community members.
- The article is missing Kenjgewin Teg's Vision Statement: 'Inspired learning! An Anishinabek place of learning is a place for all.' (StratPlan-December-8-2021-Final.pdf (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- And its official mission is: 'To build capacity of individuals through learning opportunities, teachings, and language acquisition so that they will positively impact the growth and development of our communities.' (StratPlan-December-8-2021-Final.pdf (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- Under programs I feel it should read 'secondary' school support services as they offer Secondary School Diploma programs (Pathways to Postsecondary & Employment • Kenjgewin Teg)
- Under University they no longer offer Azhiitawin University Transitions Program, so I feel that should be removed (I reviewed their website to confirm)
- The ATEP program has been renamed by the partner University (Queen's) as Indigenous Teacher Education Program (Indigenous Teacher Education Program (Community-Based) | Faculty of Education (queensu.ca))
- It should be added in this section that Kenjgewin Teg also offers Master of Education in World Indigenous Studies in Education (WISE) in partnership with Queen's University (Master of Education in World Indigenous Studies in Education (WISE) | Faculty of Education (queensu.ca))
- Kenjgewin Teg does not offer a Bachelor of Social Work, it offers a Masters of Social Work Indigenous Field of Study (IFS) in partnership with Wilfried Laurier University (MSW Indigenous Field of Study (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- Anishnaabemowin Immersion Program is no longer offered (I looked on their website and phoned to confirm)
- The Personal Support Worker (1 Year), is not offered by Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology. It is offered by Canadore College (PSW Fact Sheet (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- The Binoojiinyag Kinoomaadwin: Early childhood educator, (2 Years) Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology in no longer being offered, instead Kenjgewin Teg is offering Anishinaabemowin Early Childhood Education in partnership with Canadore College (Anishinaabemowin Early Childhood Education • Kenjgewin Teg)
- It should also be added that they offer a Practical Nursing program in partnership with Fleming College (Practical Nursing Fact Sheet (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- As well, Renovation Techniques: Construction Carpentry program I think should be added, in partnership with Canadore College (Carpentry Fact-sheet (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
- And a Trades section should be added and include the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) Certification that they offer (CWB Fact Sheet (kenjgewinteg.wpenginepowered.com))
These are my suggestions for review. I hope I have submitted everything okay. Please let me know if I need to do anything else. Miigwech (thank you). Islandkwe (talk) 16:23, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! Unless you have a conflict of interest, feel free to make these edits yourself. Otherwise, I will help with some of this later on. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 16:48, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Islandkwe I've moved the page to "Kenjgewin Teg". I've also made many changes to the article, removing promotional content. Lists of offered programs isn't particularly relevant to the article as that information can be found on the official website, so I have removed that. Similarly, the vision and mission statements aren't particularly relevant, however I have updated the motto.
- Regarding the logo, which is likely subject to copyright, will have to be uploaded by the original creator or with permission from the owner, as it doesn't qualify under the non-free content policy. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 20:20, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
